Partner Visa – Subclass 300
Overview
The Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) is a key Australian visa pathway designed for individuals who are engaged to an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. This visa enables the fiancé(e) of an eligible sponsor to travel to Australia, marry their partner, and subsequently apply for permanent residency through the Partner Visa program.
This visa is a temporary visa, generally valid for 9 to 15 months, providing the holder with the opportunity to enter Australia, live, work, and study while they make arrangements to marry their partner. Following the marriage, applicants are eligible to apply for the Partner Visa (Subclass 820/801), which serves as the next step toward obtaining permanent residency.
The Subclass 300 visa supports family formation and reunification, allowing couples to begin their lives together in Australia while accessing essential benefits such as work rights and healthcare. It is ideally suited for committed couples planning to formalize their relationship and establish a long-term future in Australia.
